Closing Out the Month: Progress, Challenges, and a Call for Accountability

As we wrap up this month at Mojave Complete Recovery, we’re proud to reflect on the strides we’ve made as a clinic and a team. We’ve welcomed new patients, expanded our reach into the community, and strengthened partnerships that will help us better serve those who need us most. Every new connection is a reminder of why we do this work—to help individuals and families heal, recover, and move forward.

Yet, alongside these successes, we must also acknowledge the barriers that continue to slow down our ability to deliver care. One of the greatest challenges we face today is the ongoing delay in state processing. Licensing, credentialing, and approvals remain months behind schedule, leaving clinics like ours unable to fully operate despite having staff, space, and a deep demand for services.

For the communities we serve—individuals struggling with addiction, families torn apart by substance use, and vulnerable populations who cannot afford to wait—these delays have real consequences. Across Arizona, we see the impact every day: patients left without care, treatment plans postponed, and lives hanging in the balance. For example, just this month, we were reminded of the devastating reality when two deaths occurred at the bus stop directly across from our clinic. These are the kinds of losses that remind us time is not a luxury when it comes to recovery.

We don’t share this to place blame, but to call for accountability. Clinics like ours are doing everything we can to build sustainable, ethical programs that focus on treating the whole person. But we cannot do it alone—we need our state systems to work as promised, to process applications in a timely manner, and to help providers like us step up and meet the enormous need in our community.

At Mojave, we remain committed to pushing forward despite these challenges. We’ll continue to advocate for our patients, work with our partners, and find every way possible to expand services. We believe that when accountability meets compassion, we can build a stronger, healthier Arizona—one patient, one family, and one recovery story at a time.
